Clare have been dealt a massive blow for 2025 as Shane O'Donnell has been ruled out of the rest of the season through injury.

The reigning Hurler of the Year and All-Star full forward has had to undergo shoulder surgery and is not expected back in action until the end of the year.

The 31-year-old has not played this season, but this was a routine that has been in place since 2022, where he has not played until the later stages of the league campaign.

O'Donnell suffered a serious concussion at training back in 2021, which almost saw him retire from the sport entirely.

Clare are without a win in their opening three games of the Allianz Hurling League and are facing relegation from Division 1A, as they face Limerick on Sunday.
