Investigation launched after body of man (40s) discovered in Cavan

The body of a man in his 40s has been discovered at a residential property in Cavan town.

Shortly after 3am on Wednesday, gardaí and emergency services were alerted when the man's body was discovered on Connolly Street, Cavan.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí said they are investigating all circumstances surrounding the discovery.

The Office of the State Pathologist and the local coroner have been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The results of the post-mortem will assist gardaí in determining the course of the investigation, gardaí said.
