Irish Rail diesel hub leaked into River Liffey

An Irish Rail diesel hub has leaked into the River Liffey.

The company has confirmed that the underground pipe connection has been leaking for over a year, with work ongoing to fix it.

The fault was discovered in March 2025.

Irish Rail said containment measures are in place, preventing diesel from entering the water beyond the area where the overflow pipe discharges to the Liffey at the Samuel Beckett Bridge.
