They had sued the HSE over the care they received at South Kerry Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

The teenager’s parents broke down in court as the HSE apology was read out as they settled a High Court action over the death of their daughter four years ago.

The girl, now 16, alleged she was inappropriately prescribed antipsychotic medications that exposed her to the onset of bulimia nervosa and a foreseeable risk of injury.

The case was settled for €73,500

The boy was diagnosed with ADHD when he was four-years-old after being referred to South Kerry Camhs in March 2020

It is the highest award so far against the HSE related to the care provided by the South Kerry Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
