Roscommon native Eoin Egan (43) has helped develop a thought-controlled wheelchair, thanks to a pioneering brain implant. London based Eoin, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) six years ago, is the only Irish person among just 23 worldwide with a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI). 

The 47-year-old former England forward announced in October that he was suffering from the incurable and life-limiting illness.

Kathy Weir said she now feels mentally ready to take on the challenge.
