Man (40s) arrested in connection with fatal hit-and-run in Co Meath

A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into a fatal hit-and-run incident in Ballivor, Co. Meath, last Friday.
A cyclist, a man in his 80’s, was discovered unresponsive and removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
On Tuesday, as part of the investigation, gardaí arrested a man in his 40s.
This man is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Eastern Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and can be detained for up to 24 hours.
A vehicle has also been recovered.
Investigating gardaí at Trim Garda Station continue to appeal to the public for information.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area of Batterstown, Ballivor, Co. Meath, between 9.30am and 10.00am on Friday 12th September 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
