A man in his 40s has died, and a man in his 30s has been injured in a two-car collision in Co Kerry.

The crash occurred on the N22 near Dromadeesirt, Co Kerry, on Saturday at around 6.40pm.

One of the drivers, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the local mortuary, where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

The other driver, a man in his 30s, was brought to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

No other injuries were reported.

The road remained closed on Sunday morning for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions on the N22 are in place at both Scart Cross and Lawlors Cross.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the N22 near Dromadeesirt between 6.20pm and 6.50pm have been asked to make their footage available to investigating gardaí.
