National gold for Crosby as juveniles shine in Athlone

THE indoor season concluded on a high note for the club at Day 3 of the National Juvenile Indoor Track & Field Championships in Athlone, highlighted by a superb gold medal performance from Joshua Crosby in the Boys U/17 Shot Putt. Crosby claimed the national title with an impressive throw of 14.11m, delivering the standout result of the day.
There was further success on the track as the Girls U/15 4x200m relay team of Faye Brennan, Sophie Dowling, Roisin Kearney and Emilia Pampliega secured silver medals, finishing second overall in a time of 1:50.08 after winning their heat.

The club was well represented across a range of events, with strong performances in middle-distance, jumps and relays. The Girls U/13 relay team (Ava Brophy, Penelope McMahon, Meabh Kearney and Hannah Haughney) placed fifth overall, while Kalem Buggy (U/18 Boys 1500m) finished sixth in his heat. Annabelle Lawlor recorded a solid run in the Girls U/19 1500m.
In the field events, Cara English delivered two strong performances, placing fifth in the Girls U/18 High Jump and fourth in the Triple Jump, with Aaliyah Troy also competing strongly across both events. Faye Brennan narrowly missed a podium finish with fourth place in the Girls U/15 Triple Jump, while Cathal English placed fifth in the Boys U/15 Triple Jump.

Additional top-10 finishes came from Grainne Doyle (8th, Girls U/17 Shot Putt), Eoghan Mitchell (9th, Boys U/18 Shot Putt) and Liam Doyle (10th, Boys U/13 High Jump).
Overall, the championships marked a positive conclusion to the indoor season, with a large number of juvenile athletes proudly representing the club and gaining valuable experience at national level. A huge thank you to the dedicated coaching team for their commitment in preparing athletes over recent months.
All roads now lead to the outdoor season over the summer months.
Jack Fenlon continued his impressive recent form running his second PB in a week, this time in the 5000m at the Duke Invitational held at the Morris Williams Stadium clocking a super time of 13:44.87 (17sec PB / First time Sub14).

Club athletes delivered strong performances at the National 10km Championships, held in conjunction with the Great Ireland Run. Colin Coyne led the way with an excellent run, finishing 37th overall and claiming silver in the M45 category in a time of 34:22.
Thomas Fitzgerald (40:59) also produced a solid performance in the M40 category, while Seán Sourke crossed the line in 45:48. Grant Sellar impressed in the M60 category, finishing in 47:47.
On the women’s side, Linda Ward placed strongly in the F45 category with a time of 51:21, while Siobhan Sellar completed the course in 55:43 to finish in the F55 category.
Athletes from the club were in action at the National Outdoor Spring Throws competition in Tullamore, producing a number of encouraging performances as the outdoor season gets underway.
Gerard Kelly secured first place in the Weight for Distance (56lbs) with a winning effort of 5.80m, adding to a solid sixth-place finish in the Hammer (7.26kg) where he recorded 42.80m.
Bernie Lawless placed 10th in the Women’s Hammer (4kg) with a throw of 24.47m, while Grainne Doyle also competed in the U/17 Women’s Hammer (3kg), continuing to gain valuable experience at national level.
The event provided a good early-season test for the club’s throwers, with promising performances recorded across the board.
