Black ice brings crashes in Laois and Offaly

BLACK ice has caused a series of crashes in Laois and Offaly this morning.
Gardaí are dealing with a number of road collisions across the division and have warned motorists to take extra care.
In one incident, a car overturned on its roof and ended up in a ditch on a narrow rural road.
Gardaí and the fire service attended the scene at Dalgan on the L1020, Geashill, Offaly soon after 10am and the road is currently closed.
Traffic detours have been set up while emergency services deal with the collision (pictured above).
The road is expected to be closed for some time, while emergency workers and a recovery vehicle attend the crash.
In a warning on social media at 10.15am, gardaí said: 'Gardai are dealing with a number of road collisions this morning around Laois Offaly. Black ice in places.'
Drivers are advised to be cautious, particularly in sheltered areas where frost is slow to clear.
