Cheers as only pub in Laois village to reopen today
Village Tap will open its doors in Rosenallis on 5 December
THE only pub in Rosenallis village will reopen this evening with new owners and a new name, nearly six years after it closed down.
There will be lively celebrations when The Village Tap, formerly Poole’s Tavern, throws open its doors at 6pm to welcome locals once again.
The pub was a major loss to Rosenallis when it failed to reopen after the Covid lockdown. The venue was not only a landmark pub but a vital community hub and meeting place in the village, which has no community centre.
New owners Mark Dunne and Wayne Walshe have carried out major renovations since they took over the licence from Martin Poole last March, while Rosenallis Tidy Towns and other volunteers have all helped to bring the pub back to life with an inviting new frontage.
Fr Tom Walsh will officially open The Village Tap at 6pm on Friday 5 December, when sandwiches and light refreshments will be served at a convivial community gathering.
The pub will be filled with music at long last once again tonight, when The Dooley Brothers perform in the pub at 10pm. Cheers!
