THE Portlaoise and District Ploughing Association held its annual competition on the lands of Matt Lalor, Ballycarnan on Saturday 1 February.
Competitors and spectators of all ages came from all corners of the county to attend the event.
Dry conditions proved ideal for the competitors, whose skills were scrutinised by eagle-eyed judges Damien Ahern, John Dunne and Dave Mulcahy.
Laois has one of the country’s most vibrant ploughing associations, with the county being home to the McHugh family, headed up National Ploughing Association managing director Anna May, who has played a vital role in its success.
