Correction: Portlaoise District Court Case 

In a court report published in last week’s Laois Nationalist newspaper and website headlined ‘Man who talked about “slicing Irish babies” to represent himself in court’, we quoted the defendant as referring to his solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick and saying: “I didn’t ask her to discharge herself … I said she was no good.” That quote was incomplete and should have read: “I said she is no good to me”.

We are happy to clarify this matter and apologise to Ms Fitzpatrick for publishing the incomplete quote.
