DPP directs that Laois man be sent forward for trial

PORTLAOISE District Court was told that the director of public prosecutions has directed that a local man should be sent forward for trial on indictment on assault and firearm charges.
Lorcan O’Brien (22), Heather Lane, Esker Hills, Portlaoise was before the court charged with assault causing harm to a woman and with the possession of a kitchen knife on 4 December 2025 at Esker Hills, Portlaoise.
Judge Susan Fay remanded the defendant on continuing bail to the 20 May sitting of the court for the service of a book of evidence.
