Garage owner had no insurance, Portlaoise Court hears

A GARAGE owner who operates a car sales business had to arrange for a car transporter to collect his vehicle after it was seized by gardaí.
Gardaí seized the vehicle when they found it was being driven without insurance.
Andre Tacu (35), Derryounce, Portarlington pleading guilty at Portlaoise District Court to driving without insurance at Spa Street, Droughill, Portarlington on 4 April.
The court heard the defendant has no previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said that her client had just bought the vehicle on the same day that he was stopped driving by gardaí.
While he may have been uninsured on the vehicle at the time, Ms Fitzpatrick said that he had been a named driving on another policy and had insurance in his own name on a van.
Ms Fitzpatrick said: “He has a garage in Dublin and sells cars. His vehicle was seized and he had to get a transporter to reclaim it.
Judge Andrew Cody convicted Mr Tacu of the offence and fined him €500.
