A SMALL business owner from Mountmellick was before last week’s sitting of the District Court on a motoring offence.

Robert Molloy (38) from The Grange, Irishtown, Mountmellick was before the court for holding a mobile phone while driving along the Abbeyleix Road, Clonminam, Portlaoise on 9 September last year.

He pleaded guilty to the offence.

Mr Molloy told Judge Susan Fay that he runs a small business and that he did not receive a fixed charge penalty notice for the offence. He said if he had, he would have paid it.

The judge went on to convict and fine Mr Molly €300 for the offence.

Funded under the Court Reporting Scheme.
