SOMEWHAT unusual summonses were brought before last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court.

The summonses were issued to Domhnall Brennan, Closhaun, Attanagh for the non-display of tax and insurance on a vehicle that was parked on Station Road, Portlaoise on 6 October last year.

Just as the case was about to get underway, the court presenter Garda Sgt Kirby said that he was applying to withdraw both summonses.

Asked by Judge Edward Carroll what was the reason for the withdrawal, Sgt Kirby replied that the vehicle in question was a coffee catering van and “not an MPV (motor propelled vehicle) at the time.” Judge Carroll conceded to his request to withdraw the summonses.

F unded by the Court Reporting Scheme.
