Laois man remanded on bail unavailable to attend court as he will be on holidays
Portlaoise Courthouse
MOMENTS after a request for free legal aid was put on hold, a man told Portlaoise District Court that he would be unavailable for the next proposed hearing date of his case due to a planned holiday.
Adam Klepa, Woodgrove Lawns, Ballyfin Road was before the court charged with possessing €1,850 worth of cannabis, €14,410 in cash and €1,800 worth of cigarettes at his address on 28 May.
Garda Sgt Kirby said he was still awaiting directions from the director of public prosecutions (DPP) on how to proceed with the case and asked for additional time.
Judge Andrew Gubbins consented to Sgt Kirby’s request and remanded Mr Klepa on continuing bail to 16 November.
Solicitor Brian Duffy applied for free legal aid for his client. However, Judge Gubbins said he would put the application on hold.
Mr Duffy then asked Judge Gubbins could Mr Klepa be excused from attending court on 16 November as he is due to be on his holidays.
Judge Gubbins consented to his request.
