Laois man sent forward for trial charged with non-fatal strangulation of a woman

GARDA Murray served a book of evidence on a local man who was sent forward for trial to the next sitting of the circuit criminal court.
The 27-year-old Laois man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victim in the case, was sent forward on two charges.
He is charged with non-fatal strangulation and with assault causing harm to a woman in a Laois town on 15 October 2024.
Judge Andrew Gubbins gave the defendant an alibi warning and instructed that he must notify gardaí in writing within 14 days if he wished to rely on an alibi in his defence.
He sent the man forward for trial to Portlaoise Circuit Criminal Court on 27 October.
