Laois murder accused granted bail in High Court

A 72-YEAR-old man accused of murdering his wife on 5 July in Portlaoise was granted bail at a high court sitting on 14 July.
That’s what Portlaoise District Court heard this morning, 27 July, when the accused, Eugen Constantin, 25 Church Street, Portlaoise appeared before the court via video link from Cloverhill Remand Prison.
However, Judge Andrew Cody noted that while high court bail had been approved, Mr Constantin “had not taken up bail or had not been in a position to.” The accused is charged with the murder of his wife Adina Raluca Constantin at their address on Sunday 5 July.
Judge Cody went on to remand Mr Constantin in custody with consent to bail on high court conditions to the 6 August sitting of Tullamore District Court.
