Laois pizza worker had fake car insurance

WHILE on mobile patrol, gardaí activated their onboard Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) device as a vehicle passed. The subsequent check indicated that the vehicle was being driven without valid insurance cover.
Following on from the incident, the vehicle driver Eduardo Da Conceilao (43), St Brigid’s Place, Portlaoise pleaded guilty to having no insurance on the N80 at Maryborough, Portlaoise on 1 January.
Defending solicitor Philip Meagher said that his client works as a general operative in a pizza packing facility.
He said that Mr Da Conceilao bought an insurance document from an individual, which turned out to be fake and not valid.
Judge Andrew Cody convicted the defendant of the offence, fined him €500 and disqualified him from driving for two years.
