A WOMAN accused of motoring offences involving an alleged hit and run had her case adjourned when it came before Portlaoise District Court.

Jane Doherty (41) from Knockanina, Mountrath is charged with being intoxicated on 16 April this year along the Old Knockmay Road, Portlaoise.

She is also charged with failing to report an accident, failing to stop at the scene, failing to offer assistance and failing to remain at the scene of an accident on the same date.

Defending solicitor Barry Fitzgerald sought full disclosure of the alleged incidents from gardaí, including CCTV footage if available. He asked for the case to be adjourned to allow time to examine its contents.

Judge Susan Fay remanded Ms Doherty on continuing bail to 4 June, to allow her time to consider whether she is offering a guilty of not guilty plea. In the event a not guilty plea is entered on that date, Judge Fay set 16 July as the date for a full hearing.
