Portlaoise Court: Abbeyleix woman ‘ravaged’ by addiction

WHEN gardaí got a strong smell of cannabis coming from a group of women, at the train station in Portlaoise, they searched one, and found her to be in possession of 27 Alprazolam (Xanax) tablets.
That was the evidence given at Portlaoise District Court when Zoe Walsh from 38 Balladine, Abbeyleix was summoned for possessing drugs on 5 June.
The court heard that Ms Walsh had 11 Previous convictions.
Defending solicitor Barry Fitzpatrick said that his 33-year old client, “has been ravished by addiction issues since her late teens. But is doing well now.”
Judge Susan Fay convicted Ms Walsh of the offence and fined her €200.
