JUDGE Susan Fay issued an bench warrant for the arrest of a Portarlington man who failed to appear at last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court.

Dara Dixon, Whitefield, Station Road, Portarlington had been due in court to be served a book of evidence to a charge of drug trafficking on 23 July last at his address, where 32.56grams of a white substance was allegedly found in a sealed bag.

Mr Dixon (26) was also charged with possessing cannabis for his own use and possessing cannabis for sale or supply at his address on 12 December last.

Judge Fay asked Anne Doyle, BL for Mr Dixon, why her client was not in court. Ms Doyle replied that she has been unable to contact him.

Sergeant JJ Kirby said that Mr Dixon knew that he was to be served with a book of evidence and asked that a bench warrant be issued for his arrest, to which Judge Fay consented.
