Portlaoise Court: Judge orders deceased man's money go to local charity

FOLLOWING the arrest of a man on 5 December 2021 for begging, gardaí seized €849.65 from him and the money had since remained in garda care.

Gardaí brought an application before Portlaoise District Court seeking permission to dispose of the money.

Garda Sergeant Rowan Casey told Judge Susan Fay that the man who was arrested with the money is now decreased and gardaí were seeking an order from the court to dispose of it.

Judge Fay directed that all of the €849.65 should go to the Portlaoise Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
