Portlaoise Court: Laois man charged with rape and threats to kill

A LAOIS man who is charged with rape, threatening to kill and to assaults causing serious harm to a woman will be presented with a book of evidence at the 8 May sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
The 38-year old, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, appeared by video link at last week’s sitting of the local district court on charges that included two counts of threatening to kill or to cause serious harm on 1 and 9 June, rape on 9 June and on 2 November, with assault causing harm on 1 and 2 November and with assault causing harm on 9 January this year.
All of the offences are alleged to have taken place at an address in Laois.
Judge Deirdre Gearty remanded the man in custody to 8 May and to appear in court for the service of a book of evidence.
