The 18-year old mechanical engineering student was before Portlaoise District Court

AN 18-year-old man who had never come to gardaí’s attention was before Portlaoise District Court charged with possessing drugs.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said that Kailyn Flood from Riverside, Portarlington was found in possession of €70 worth of cocaine in Hinds Square, Portlaoise on 16 March.

Judge Susan Fay told the mechanical engineering student that if he donates €300 to the court poor box by 8 September that she would apply the Probation Act. 

However, if not, she said that she would convict him of the offence and fine him €350.
