Portlaoise Court: Woman not in court due to early stages of pregnancy

Portloaise Courthouse
A SOLICITOR for a woman who had been due to appear at Portlaoise District Court on a public order offence told Judge Susan Fay that her client was unable to attend because “she’s in the early stages of her pregnancy.”
Nuala Carroll, The Marionettes, Quigley Park, Rathdowney was due in court on a charge of engage in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at Haroon Curry House, Moore Street, Rathdowney on 24 September last.
When the case was called, solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick told Judge Fay that her client “is in hospital in the early stages of her pregnancy.”
Garda Sergeant Colin O’Leary handed in a victim impact report on the incident.
Judge Fay remanded Ms Carroll, in her absence, on her own bail and adjourned the case for finalisation.
