Five students achieve over 600 points at St Mary’s CBS Portlaoise
Happy students at St Marys CBS after receiving their leaving certificate results
THERE were scenes of celebration at St Mary’s CBS on 21 August when leaving certificate students were invited to celebrate their results.
Approximately 1,200 Laois pupils across 11 secondary schools sat the exams in 2026. A record number of candidates received results across the country â a total of 70,411 students, up 15 per cent on 2024.
“This was an exceptional year group who worked incredibly hard throughout their time with us and we are delighted to see their efforts so richly rewarded,” said a St Mary’s CBS statement.
Five students achieved over 600 points: Joshua Corbett, Ismail Usman, Harry McGree, Antoni Calka and the school’s student of the year Max Gibney, who achieved a maximum score of 625 points.
A further 27 students achieved over 500 points, with 25 achieving over 400 points and more celebrating fantastic results above 300 points.
“We are also incredibly proud of our leaving certificate applied students, who achieved fantastic results”, said a representative of St Mary’s CBS.
“Their hard work, commitment and determination throughout the LCA programme have been richly rewarded and we congratulate each of them on all they have achieved.
“We are exceptionally proud of the class of 2026. They have been a wonderful group of young men, who have contributed so much to the life of St Mary’s CBS.
Today’s results are a testament to their hard work, determination and commitment, as well as the dedication of their teachers who supported and encouraged them throughout their journey.
“We are also deeply grateful to their families for their unwavering support. We wish every one of them every success and happiness as they begin the next chapter of their lives.”
