THE Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued a recall alert on its website relating to a Laois-based establishment.

All food products produced or sold by EB Food Essentials of Coolanagh, Ballickmoyler are subject to the recall.

Examples of implicated foods include meat products, such as lamb and goat, seafood, peppers, and other plant-based foods.

All pack sizes are included in the notice, as are all batch numbers and expiry dates.

The recall notice was issued 12 December.

According to the FSAI, the recall notice has been issued due to the establishment’s unregistered status, meaning the food produced in, and/or sold from, EB Food Essentials is “not subject to official controls”.

It is therefore not possible to confirm whether the food was manufactured in compliance with all relevant food safety legislation.

As a precautionary measure, the FSAI are recalling all implicated products to ensure consumer safety.

Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, caterers and retailers are requested to remove implicated products from sale and should display recall notices at point-of-sale.

Wholesalers and distributors who may have worked with EB Food Essentials are also requested to contact affected customers, recall the implicated products and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retailer customers.

Consumers are advised not to eat any products from EB Food Essentials.

Little information relating to EB Food Essentials currently exists online.

The FSAI reported on 10 December that Environmental Health Officers in the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) served 14 closure orders on food businesses in November for breaches of food safety legislation.

Reasons for Enforcement Orders include rodent infestation in food preparation areas, cockroaches visible in staff kitchens, food businesses not registered with the HSE, and more.
