Free parking for Christmas in three Laois towns

FREE parking on Saturdays will be available in Portlaoise, Mountmellick and Portarlington in the run-up to Christmas, at least for up to two hours.
Laois Co Council has confirmed that the annual waiver of parking charges will operate again this year, on every Saturday in December.
Shoppers will have two hours’ free parking in all council-run public car parks in each of the three towns.
Time limits will be enforced to ensure that drivers don't take up spaces all day.
The three towns are the only ones in the county with public paid parking.
The waiver relates to parking charges only, as the council warned that it will continue to enforce fines for illegal parking on double yellow lines, footpaths, loading bays and disabled bays.
