Gardaí renew appeal after Laois road death

GARDAÍ investigating the road incident that claimed the life of Laois musician Tony Kavanagh (70) last week have renewed an appeal for witnesses.
In an appeal yesterday evening, gardaí asked people who witnessed the fatal collision in Abbeyleix or who have camera footage to come forward.
They said in a statement after 5pm: 'Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision which occurred on Main Street, Abbeyleix on Wednesday, 28 January.
'The collision involving a car and a male pedestrian ... occurred at approximately 7pm. The pedestrian was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore where he was later pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported.
'Gardaí are renewing their appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
'Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling in the area between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday ... are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.'
