GARDAÍ in Kildare and Carlow have seized 41 vehicles over the past week as part of an intensified roads policing operation targeting motorists driving illegally.
The vehicles were taken off the roads for a range of offences, including driving without insurance, no valid tax or NCT certification, driving while disqualified, and unaccompanied learner driving.
The Naas Roads Policing Unit carried out targeted patrols in Monasterevin, Carbury and Celbridge over the weekend. During these patrols, five vehicles were seized following hits from Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems indicating no insurance.
Gardaí are using the Garda Mobility App to identify and intercept uninsured and unsafe vehicles.
A spokesperson warned that while Gardaí “can’t be everywhere,” but they “could be anywhere,” urging motorists to ensure they are fully road legal.
“We’re out in force. If you’re not road legal — we’ll find you and seize your vehicle,” the spokesperson said.
