The ‘Burger Palace Boys’ rehearsing ahead of Portlaoise College Transition Year students production of the hit musicalGrease

TRANSITION YEAR students at Portlaoise College are all set to take to the stage with their production of the hit musical Grease.

The play is directed by teachers Mr Whelehan and Mr Hogan, with choreography by Niamh Ahern.

The adaptation of the musical features a talented cast of students.

Leading the cast of talented students are Jordan McGee as Danny and Charlee Talbot as Sandy. They will be supported by Pola Nowicka (Rizzo), Keelin Moore (Frenchy) and Aaron Keenan as Kenickie. The ensemble is rounded out by an enthusiastic group of performers playing the iconic Pink Ladies and Burger Palace Boys.

Musical directors Mr Harvey and Ms Wilson have worked diligently with the students, ensuring a high-quality performance.

Speaking about the production, Mr Harvey said: “It’s been a fantastic journey seeing the students grow in confidence and skill as they take on these challenging roles.” Ms Wilson said: “The energy and commitment from the cast have been truly inspiring and we can’t wait for the audience to see their hard work come to life. Grease will look unerringly like the original production and is in no small part down to the fantastic costumes for the show, which are managed by Ms Kennedy, ensuring a vibrant and era-appropriate visual appeal.

The performances will take place in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise on Wednesday and Thursday 5-6 February at 7.30 pm each night. Tickets cost €15 each and can be booked online at www.dunamaise.ie.
