FOUR cycling ambassadors from Portlaoise College have been recognised for their leadership and innovation in promoting cycling among girls.

The scholarship will provide financial assistance to one deserving student to help meet the costs of a four-year undergraduate degree.

OVER 2,000 attendees are expected to attend this year’s Live Well Health and Wellbeing Expo in Portlaoise on Wednesday 23 April. The Expo is free of charge to attend and is delivered through a partnership between Age Friendly Laois and Healthy Laois.

TRANSITION YEAR students at Portlaoise College are all set to take to the stage with their production of the hit musical Grease. The play is directed by teachers Mr Whelehan and Mr Hogan, with choreography by Niamh Ahern.

The competition challenges second-level students across the island of Ireland to recite a prescribed poem from memory.

The evening was organised by the Science and Biology teacher Ms Kelly along with the college’s Head of Technology Mr Kenny and Technology teacher Mr Bennett.

Portlaoise College is celebrating the achievements of two of its students, Yifei Li and Eimear Byrne, who have both earned places on prestigious Leinster squads in their respective sports.

PORTLAOISE College opened its doors to parents and prospective students on the evenings of the 25 and 26 September for its annual open nights. Both evenings began with a welcome address by principal Noel Daly.

Visitors will have the chance to explore the school’s facilities and learn about its academic and extracurricular offerings.
