ONE of the many events during Bike Week 2025 across towns and villages in Laois was the ‘Sunset Cycle’ in Vicarstown.
Laois Public Participation Network (PPN) along with SVT Activity and Wellness Hub welcomed a large number to the ‘Sunset Cycle’ to promote the benefits of active travel as part of the PPN Climate Action Project.
The cycle event took place along a ten-kilometre stretch cycle of the Barrow Line of the blueway from Vicarstown to Fisherstown and back.
Chris Miller acted as guide and shared his knowledge about the history of the canal, its iconic bridges and the local area.
The event encouraged physical activity and highlighted the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the area.
Laois PPN administrator Majella Moore thanked sports and leisure officer Anne-Marie Maher and her team from Laois County Council for co-ordinating and supporting events in county during Bike Week.
Ms Moore also thanked Chris Miller and John Scully from the SVT Activity and Wellness Hub and all PPN member groups for attending.
