Homes in Laois without power as Storm Bram hits

HOMES and businesses in some Laois areas are without power, as Storm Bram sweeps across the county.
More than 800 ESB customers have suffered power cuts in the Abbeyleix area, after trees knocked electricity cables.
A small number of properties in the Timahoe area are also affected by power outages due to fallen trees.
ESB Networks said that crews are working to clear trees and fallen branches and restore power to 806 customers in the Abbeyleix area.
They expected electricity supply to be restored by about 1.30pm, while power was expected to return at about 1.45pm in Timahoe, where 11 properties are affected.

A Met Éireann Status Orange wind warning is in effect in Laois until 7pm tonight.
Laois Co Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team (SWAT) is monitoring the impact of the storm locally. The council warned:
‘Storm Bram will bring very strong to gale force southerly winds with severe gusts.

Difficult travel conditions
Debris, loose objects displaced
Outdoor events impacted
Power outages
