Kerfuffle breaks out in election count centre in Laois

The computer monitor that came between Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil in the count centre in Portlaoise.
By Joe Barrett There was a bit of a verbal kerfuffle between Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil tallymen earlier this morning in the count centre in Portlaoise.
It centered around the broadcasting of tallies on a monitor in the center.
Traditionally and for the past general and local elections Fianna Fáil broadcasted the tallies from the various boxes on a computer monitor for all to see.
This time around and for the first time ever Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael agreed to cooperate and combine their tallies.
However, while the tallies were being broadcasted, Fianna Fáil requested that the monitor be switched off.
There was somewhat of a stalemate between the two sides until eventually the screen went blank.
Peace was restored and the agreed relationship was back on between the two parties.
