A LEARNER driver speeding on dangerously worn tyres was arrested by Laois gardaí today, after testing positive for cocaine and cannabis.
The car was seized and towed away from the M7 motorway, while the driver was arrested at the scene.
After the Laois Roads Policing Unit stopped the car for exceeding the 120kph speed limit, they found that both front tyres were ‘in a very dangerous condition’.
Posting photos of the vehicle and bald tyres on the An Garda Síochána Laois Offaly Facebook page, gardaí said that that culprit was a learner permit holder driving unaccompanied.
Gardaí said: ‘They were arrested at the scene, after failing a roadside drug test for cocaine and cannabis. The vehicle was seized.’
The driver is facing a court appearance for a litany of traffic offences.
