TWO uninsured drivers were caught within minutes at a garda checkpoint in Laois yesterday.
One was stopped after turning away from the checkpoint, while the second was caught after gardaí received an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) alert.
Both cars were seized by gardaí and the drivers are facing court appearances.
The Laois Roads Policing Unit was conducting a checkpoint when a car was seen turning and driving away. The vehicle was stopped and seized for not having insurance.
While dealing with the driver, a second car alerted gardaí on ANPR and was also seized for not having insurance.
The driver of this car was also issued with a fixed charge notice for not wearing his seat belt, as it was found to be buckled around the rear of the seat.
The cars were towed away and court proceedings have commenced in both cases.
