Laois gets orange warning for snow and ice

Met Éireann's orange warning map updated at 4.30pm on Friday
LAOIS and Offaly have been added to Met Éireann’s orange warning for snow/ice this weekend, with treacherous conditions predicted on the roads.
Both counties were added to the orange warning area in an update at 4.30pm on Friday. The snow-ice warning is for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary.
The warning is effective from 5pm on Saturday 4 January until 5pm on Sunday 5 January.
Met Éireann said that 'significant snowfall accumulations' are expected during a bitterly cold weekend.
Impacts include:
• Very difficult travelling conditions • Poor visibility • Travel disruption delays to public transport likely (air, rail, bus) • Difficult conditions underfoot • Animal welfare issues
