AN A-MOOSING Christmas card created by a talented Laois girl will be used as a corporate greeting card, after winning a national competition.
With the ‘tag’ line ‘All I Want for Christmas is Moo!’, the colourful card by Ballyfin NS pupil Mia Fitzgerald captured the hearts of judges from the National Dairy Council (NDC).
The 10-year-old’s delightful entry was deservedly named winner of the NDC’s corporate Christmas card competition, which attracted over 350 entries from all over the country.
Mia spent four hours on the beautiful bovine portrait, using her new art markers and colouring pens to add extra detail that make the joyful image stand out from the herd. A natural artist, she loves to draw and paint in her spare time and is thrilled to have won the prestigious contest.
Both Mia and her proud teacher David McNabb won a €100 One4All voucher, as well as a signed jersey by Rugby International and NDC ambassador Garry Ringrose. The prizes were presented at the school by NDC schools programme manager Sinéad Whelan.
Mia's winning creation will be used as NDC’s corporate greeting card, which will be sent out to thousands of people in the agri-food sector and beyond.
The winning card design will also be promoted and featured across NDC’s social channels and in print and media.
The annual competition is open to all school children around the country and the 2024 theme was dairy farming.
