Laois man accused of threatening to distribute intimate images of former partner

A MAN came before the family law court sitting of Portlaoise District Court last week charged with two counts of threatening to publish or distribute intimate images of his former partner.
The 46-year-old Laois man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged injured party, was also charged with harassment.
The harassment offence is alleged to have occurred on dates between 14 April and 8 June 2023. The other two offences are alleged to have taken place on 15 April 2023 and 1 May 2023.
Detective Garda Shane Hunt said he had no objection to bail on condition that the defendant attends all court sittings, is of good behaviour, abstains from drugs and alcohol, observes an 11pm to 6am daily curfew, makes no attempt by any means to contact the alleged injured party, provides gardaí with his mobile phone number and is available to take their calls 24 hours a day and desists from posting anything on social media.
Judge Andrew Cody remanded the man on continuing bail to 26 June.
