OUR Climate, Our Future, Our Action at The Merry Mill, an event as part of the 2026 Laois Climate Action Festival, highlighted practical and inspiring examples of how farming and nature can work together for the benefit of the environment and farm businesses.
The Merry Mill is a family-run organic oat farm in the heart of Co Laois. During the event, Kevin Scully demonstrated how sustainable farming and food production can work hand-in-hand.
Through organic farming practices, Kevin has created healthy soils, improved biodiversity and developed a more climate resilient farming landscape.
Lisa Doyle, biodiversity officer at Laois Co Council commented: “The Merry Mill shows how sustainable farming, food production and biodiversity can work together to create healthier soils and a more climate resilient farming landscape.”
