LAOIS Offaly Families for Autism (LOFFA) were recently presented with a cheque for €2,500 from the AXA Local Community Awards.

Each of the 24 AXA Insurance branches across the country awarded €2,500 to a local group that demonstrates how their work is contributing to a safer and more resilient future for their local community.

From providing essential support to children and adults with autism, to offering a safe haven for those affected by domestic violence, AXA said this year’s recipients, including LOFFA, are dedicated to shaping a brighter, safer future for their communities.

The company said that the funding “will empower the award winners to expand and enhance their invaluable work, promoting social connection and providing critical services to vulnerable members of society.” LOFFA provides social outlets for young people and adults who have ASD and help to identify and link in with services and professionals in the local area who can provide appropriate supports.

It also provide workshops, information sessions, training, liaise with schools to raise awareness of ASD and assist in providing the supports that are needed for students and families.
