Laois/Offaly Garda operation leads to major drug seizure and arrest

AN GARDA Síochána Laois/Offaly executed a search warrant at a Portlaoise business premises today, 15 May, as part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs.

Gardaí from the Laois Drugs Unit searched the premises and seized approximately €8,000 worth of suspected cannabis products.

Gardaí told the Laois Nationalist that a man in his 40s has been arrested in relation to this seizure. Investigations are ongoing.

An Garda Síochána Laois/Offaly posted an image of the haul on their Facebook page, which shows evidence bags filled with dozens of vape pens, tubs and plastic containers.

This operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Gardaí in Laois and Offaly to target the sale and supply of controlled drugs within local communities.

In the Facebook post, Gardaí encourage anyone with information relating to drug dealing or associated criminal activity to contact Portlaoise Garda Station, any Garda station, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Gardaí from Laois and Offaly recently partnered with Laois Domestic Abuse Service for Go Purple Day on 15 May, holding a domestic violence awareness workshop in the Laois Civil Defence offices on Thursday 14 May.
