Large pizza chain looking to come to Portlaoise

A PLANNING application has been lodged with Laois County Council for permission to change a restaurant to a pizza takeaway premises.

Surihol Limited has lodged an application to change the use from a restaurant at Unit 5 at Portlaoise Shopping Centre along the Mountmellick/Green Road, Portlaoise to a pizza takeaway premises.

The application pointed out: “Portlaoise Shopping Centre underwent a significant refurbishment last year to upgrade the carpark, Dunnes Unit, the public façades and walkways. It has greatly improved the amenity and viability of the development. The owners are trying to secure tenants for the remaining vacant units. There is a strong expression of interest in this unit from a large pizza chain, but a change of use planning needs to be secured before the lease can be finalised.”
