Learner in Laois caught with drugs worth €40,000

A LEARNER driver stopped for speeding in Laois was arrested, after drugs worth €40,000 were allegedly discovered in the vehicle.
The Mercedes driver was stopped on the M7 motorway yesterday evening, when the Laois Roads Policing Unit was carrying out a radar speed check.
Gardaí said today that a search of the car uncovered cocaine and cannabis, with an estimated street value of €40,000.
The driver, a learner permit holder who was unaccompanied, was arrested at the scene and the car was seized.
The driver was charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court today.
