Learner on drugs tried to evade Laois checkpoint

A CAR was seized from a learner diver on cannabis who tried to evade a Laois garda checkpoint.
Gardaí said that cannabis was found in the vehicle and the driver, who had no insurance, failed a roadside drug test.
Posting a photo from the scene on social media on Tuesday 27 May, gardaí said the driver was arrested by the Laois Roads Policing Unit after attempting to avoid a local garda checkpoint.
They said: ‘The driver tested positive for presence of cannabis in oral fluid. They were also a learner permit holder and did not have insurance.
‘A small quantity of cannabis was found in the vehicle, which was seized.’
The car was towed away from the scene and the driver will face a court appearance.
