Man who died in Carlow house fire is named locally 

Elton Stronge who died on Sunday evening

A 45-year-old man has died following a house fire at Mount Leinster Park, Tullow Road in Carlow town on Sunday morning. The deceased has been named locally as Elton Stronge, of 36 Mount Leinster Park, Tullow Road, Carlow.

The tragic incident occurred at approximately 10.40am on 19 October.

Carlow Fire Brigade confirmed to  The Nationalist that it had attended a house fire in the town, as did An Garda Síochána.

Mr Stronge, who is understood to have lived at the property with his partner, was alone in the house at the time of the incident. He was treated at the scene before being brought to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny, where he passed away on Sunday evening as a result of injuries sustained in the fire.

A garda spokesperson confirmed to The Nationalist that the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

A death notice on RIP.ie today Monday, described Mr Stronge as the beloved son of Andrew and Anne-Marie, much-loved brother of Shane and Michelle, and adored partner of Maddie.

The notice also said that he will be ‘sadly missed by his loving parents, sister, brother, partner, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews Ailbe and Lorcán, cousins, relatives and friends’.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
