A MERCY mission swung into action to clear access roads for patients and staff at a Laois hospital today.

An agricultural machinery crew leapt into action, after an urgent call went out to clear snow from both blocked avenues to Abbeyleix District Hospital (CNU).

A team from local firm Dooley Agri came to the rescue when the avenues were impassable due to deep snow and ice.

Within a short time of the hospital’s appeal being posted on the ABBEYLEIX community Facebook page, a gallant Dooley’s team rolled up in a JCB and had the job done in record time.

The community page administrators said: ‘Thanks to Rob, Adam and his crew at Dooley Agri for coming to the rescue of patients and staff at Abbeyleix District Hospital this afternoon.

‘The lads were first to answer the hospital’s appeal to clear the two access roads to the hospital. Well done lads.’
